Background Issues in Church and Society (Week 1)
1. Changes in church and society that make these five areas critical for pastoral ministry and church life today
Church Planting (Weeks 2 – 3)
2. Theological framework and Biblical insights for church planting
3. Cultural analysis and research in church planting
4. Contextualisation and church planting
5. Models of planting, and models of church plants in post Christendom
6. Pioneering leadership (qualities, competencies, tasks, practicalities)
Ethnic and Cultural Diversity (Weeks 4 – 6)
7. Students will be required to spend 2-3 hours researching the ethnic and cultural diversity within the suburb in which they live or minister (present or intended).

9. Ministry, cultural and ethnic diversity: theology and practice
Family and Children's Ministry (Including Intergenerational and Young Adult Ministry) (Weeks 7 – 9)
10. Biblical perspectives on children: introduction to theology of childhood; implications for ministry
11. Children and God: Overview of moral and faith development; survey of a variety of perspectives such as Fowler, Westerhoff, and Buckland
12. Children and the church: history of children in the church; recent trends
13. Discipleship and children in an intergenerational context (integrated, holistic and intergenerational discipleship)
14. The role, contribution and impact of family in ministry with children, youth and young adults
15. Navigating transitions and faith
Youth Ministry (Weeks 10 – 11)
16. Issues facing adolescents today

18. Developing fruitful programs and events
