Content
Day 1
1. Biblical perspectives on mentoring, relationships and work
- Biblical and pastoral perspectives on relationships
- Biblical and pastoral perspectives on mentoring/Christian discipling
- Theology of work and relationships outline
Day 2
2. Skills development: pastoral conversations
- Skills and qualities of mentors/pastoral carers
- Skills practice: pastoral questioning and active listening
Day 3
3. Skills development: mentoring
- Conducting a mentoring conversation
- Skills practice: conducting a mentoring session
Day 4
4. Pastoral and mentoring issues at work I
- Introduction to the modern workplace
- Workplace issues: stress, ambition, drug/alcohol dependency, workplace ethical issues
- Application of mentoring and pastoral care to those issues
Day 5
5. Pastoral and mentoring issues at work II
- Workplace issues: work-life imbalance, bullying, conflict, unemployment
- Application of mentoring and pastoral care to those issues
- Workplace issues: loss and grief, depression, suicide (note: expert presenters)
- Case studies: programs aimed at workers in church and workplaces
