23 June 2017Honorary Doctorate conferred on Dr Mark Harding
Dr Mark Harding, was recently celebrated at a dinner during the annual ACT Consortium Conference. The ACT was happy to present Dr Harding with an honorary Doctorate for his significant contribution to theological education and the Anglican Church of Australia.
For over 30 years, the Reverend Dr Mark Harding has been a key participant in the higher theological education sector in Australia. He has made a distinguished contribution to theological knowledge and understanding as a teacher and New Testament scholar, and to higher theological education in this country and beyond as an academic leader.
During his transformational ACT Deanship Dr Harding not only consolidated the consortium, but also led the applications for formal recognition as a Higher Education Provider (2004) and for registration as an Australian University of Specialisation (2016).
The award of the degree Doctor of Theology (honoris causa) to Dr Mark Harding by the Australian College of Theology is a fitting and well-warranted recognition of his years of distinguished service to theological education and his contribution to theological learning.
Many family and friends of Dr Harding were in attendance at the conferral; some who have known and worked with him for many years. It was a great celebration for a worthy recipient, and we look forward to being blessed by Dr Harding’s continued involvement in theological education as Executive Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Theological Schools and also of the Council of Deans of Theology.
