Coronavirus Information – Financial Support
Financial support
Services Australia (Centrelink, Medicare, Child support) delivers government payments and services.
The federal government is offering increased financial support for those affected by coronavirus, see here: COVID-19 Financial Support
- All financial support is accessed through Centrelink, you will need a Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN). Centrelink is working on processes to apply for and receive your CRN without having to physically attend a service centre.
- As of 4 April there are four financial supplements for those who are struggling at this time, you may be eligible for some or all of these payments: Coronavirus Supplement, Economic Support Payment 1, Economic Support Payment 2, and Crisis Payment. See the Services Australia Financial Support for people affected by coronavirus web page for further details.
- The Coronavirus Supplement provides a temporary payment of $550 per fortnight to new and existing eligible income support recipients including Austudy and Youth Allowance, which is of particular relevance to ACT students.
- Increased access to other payments: Centrelink has temporarily expanded eligibility for JobSeeker Payment and Youth Allowance for job seekers. Income testing will still apply but the threshold has been lifted significantly.
