Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students willA. Know and understand
1. Demonstrate Advanced knowledge and understanding of, and the research underlying, professional supervision to the level required for recognition and accreditation as a professional supervisor by the Australian Association of Supervisors (AAOS) within the context of the Graduate Certificate of Professional Pastoral Supervision
B. Be able to
1. Examine recent scholarship on professional supervision with particular reference to the self-awareness required for supervision work and the competencies required for peer and group supervision
2. Demonstrate skill in utilising implementing research-based approaches to a ministry of pastoral supervision with particular reference to legal and ethical requirements of a diocese / church organisation / ministry workplace
3. Present Research-Aware perspectives on enhanced professional supervision in a range of ministry contexts
C. Be in a position to
1. Applying Advanced perspectives and skills from ‘Advanced Professional Supervision for Ministry Workers’ to ministry practice and Christian living as a reflective practitioner

- Legal and Ethical Issues in Supervision: Mandatory Reporting; Codes of Conduct, Confession and Working with the Newly Ordained
- Practicing the Process: Transference, Counter-transference, Parallel Process; Supervision, Ministry and Power
- Group and Peer Supervision
- Creative approaches to Supervision, the importance of self-care for Supervision
