On successful completion of this unit, students will

1. Critically Analyse recent scholarship on the interpretation and application of the book of Daniel

3. Critically Evaluate evidence-based perspectives on the interpretation and application of the book of Daniel

1. Applying Advanced perspectives and skills from ‘Interpreting and Applying Daniel’ to ministry practice and Christian living as a reflective practitioner

  1. Recent research on the background and historical context of the Book of Daniel, relevant to reading and preaching on Daniel.
  2. The nature and characteristics of Old Testament apocalyptic, and its relevance
  3. Key theological themes of the Book of Daniel
  4. Exegesis of select passages from Daniel, with reference to a selection of influential historical and contemporary interpretations of Daniel.
  5. Key issues in contemporary research on the Book of Daniel
  6. How to preach a series on the Book of Daniel, including Christian application.
