Rationale

The course is intended to further the education of adults in relation to Christian faith and life. Its aim is to stimulate the interest of alert and enquiring minds. What is required is not so much academic scholarship as an understanding of Christian theology and its implication for contemporary life.

Certificate in Theology Specialisations

Students enrolled in the Certificate in Theology course can specialise by completing three elective units from a list of specialisations.

  1. A specialisation of"Christian Education" will be established for students who opt to pursue three elective units from a specified list, which includes Children's Ministry Skills (CMS), Adult Religious Education (ARE), Skills in Biblical Interpretation (SBI), and Skills in Biblical Studies (SBS).                                                                                                                                                                                 
  2. A specialisation of “Christian Leadership” will be established if students undertake the three elective units from the list containing Introduction to Christian Leadership (ICL), The Making of a Leader (MOAL), and Principles and Practices of Christian Leadership (PPCL).

Students can apply for recognition of a Specialisation by contacting ACT's Academic Services team.

Admission Requirements

Open to persons who have satisfactorily completed Year 10 in an Australian school system (or equivalent); or to such other persons approved by the ACT Registrar.
