Distance Education Handbook

You can enrol in some courses of the Australian College of Theology via distance education. The courses which can be studied in this mode are:

Diploma
Diploma of Ministry
Diploma of Theology
Advanced Diploma of Ministry
Advanced Diploma of Theology

The following colleges are approved to deliver diplomas by distance:

Morling College
Mueller College of Ministries
Presbyterian Theological Centre
Ridley Melbourne
School of Christian Studies

Degree
Associate Degree of Theology
Bachelor of Christian Studies
Bachelor of Ministry
Bachelor of Theology

The Bachelor of Theology can be done in part by correspondence (up to one third only).  Check with individual degree colleges for further details on this.  The Associate Degree of Theology and Bachelor of Ministry can be done in full through Morling College and the Melbourne School of Theology.

Some or all of the foundational units for the undergraduate degrees can be studied in distance mode through Malyon College, School of Christian Studies and Ridley Melbourne.

PostGraduate
Some or all of the units of the Graduate Diploma of Divinity, or up to one third of the Master of Divinity, can be done in distance mode through Morling College, Malyon College, the Melbourne School of Theology, the Reformed Theological College, and Ridley Melbourne. Some or all of the units of the Graduate Diploma of Christian Studies can be studied in distance mode through the School of Christian Studies.

The Master of Arts courses can be completed in distance mode. It is recommended that distance students purchase a Postgraduate Handbook to help in their studies. These MA Courses may be done by correspondence through Malyon College.

International Students

International Students studying in Australia on a student visa are permitted to undertake no more than 25% of their total course by distance and/or online learning, and are not allowed to study units exclusively in distance or online learning in any compulsory study period. In any compulsory study period, an international student must study at least one unit that is not online or distance education. If your college offers online or distance education study in a non-compulsory study period (eg. between semesters), this may be your exclusive mode of study for that period, and it will be counted against the 25% maximum for the the course.
