The course aims to equip graduates with the theological and other understandings and skills needed to apply a Christian perspective and commitment to their life in the world, including their professional and vocational life, and is designed to integrate theological reflection with the particular occupational and/or life interests of students,
The course is not designed as a normal track into professional Christian ministry, such as pastoral oversight of a congregation, the normal track for which is a three-year BTh, BMin or MDiv having completed either the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies, BTh, BMin or AdvDipTh may have a special interest in the degree.
It is expected that graduates from the management, business, legal, education, health and aged-care professions will be among those particularly attracted to the degree.
The educational qualification for admission to the Master of Arts (Christian Studies) is an approved three-year non-theological undergraduate degree of a recognised university or its equivalent. Prospective students will present full academic transcripts to their sponsoring institution.
Although the degree is not primarily intended for those engaged in full time professional ministry it is recognised that some students, having satisfied (i) above, and having completed either the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies or the BTh or BMin. or AdvDipTh may have a special interest in the degree. Many who complete theological degrees and diplomas do so with no intention of entering full time professional ministry.

The Timetable of MA units (PDF)
The course is aimed at broadening and deepening the ministry concepts begun in the first degree in theology or providing opportunities for initial professional and vocational development after the completion of a first degree in theology. As such it is a course of study for practitioners who already have some ongoing professional experience or for initial professional development.
Open as a degree to persons who hold the College’s BMin; or to persons who are graduates in theology or ministry from a recognised provider considered equivalent to the College’s Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Ministry.
Consideration will also be given to other factors such as practical experience, maturity and motivation, and the likelihood of satisfactory completion of the academic requirements of the course.

The course is designed to provide graduates in theology, including those who are practitioners in ministry, the opportunity to undertake study at coursework masters level, thus consolidating and enhancing the areas of speciality, or proceeding to new areas of professional and vocational expertise on the foundation of their first degree in theology.
